I am running my demos in Google App engine. After some experiments i succeeded with Google App Engine setup for Java. In this article I am going to explain how to create simple application

Create Application in App Engine

Install plugin in Eclipse

  • Open Eclipse (Here I am using Eclipse Juno (3.8 / 4.2)) 
  • Click on Help > Install New Software (Now you will see one popup window)
  • Click on Add (Now you will see below window). Enter Name and Location as shown in below. You can find appropriate URL for your Eclipse version here. Click on OK 
  • Now you will see the below window. Select Google plugin for Eclipse and SDKs. Click on Next and complete the installation process

Create New Project 

  • Click g icon > New Web Application Project
  • Now you will see the below window. Enter Project Name and Package and click Finish

Set Configuration for project

  • Right Click on project Google > App Engine Settings
  • Enter Application ID which you created at appengine.google.com

Sign in to Eclipse using Google Account

  • You can find Sign in to Google button on bottom-right corner. Click on it.
  • Now you will see this popup window. Enter your Google credentials account and Sign In to Eclipse
  • After Sign in process your id will be displayed and bottom right corner

Run your application

  • Right click on Project
  • Run As > Web Application

Deploy Application to Google App Engine 

  • Right click on project
  • Google > Deploy to App Engine
  • Now open URL <your app id>.appspot.com to see your application.

    am having a problem in deploying it to the browser it is not showing the output but a welcome message instead asking my name i have written a test code first before deploying any app help me thanks

    1. I couldn't get your problem clearly.
      Just change the welcome-file tag value in web.xml
      and before deploying it to app engine, run the code in local and check on which URL your code working

    1. Google App Engine provides cloud SQL but its not free. You can use Google Data Storage

    1. Looks like you messed with app engine sdk setup. Make sure that u install the appengine sdk without missing any libraries
